By volunteering you can help:

  • Promote interests of the home building industry at the state Capitol by: promulgating legislation to advance the industry, monitoring legislation that could impact the industry and opposing legislation detrimental to home building and home ownership.
  • Create coalitions toward the achievement of CAHB's public policy agenda.
  • Provide funding and other assistance to candidates who support the building industry and private property rights.
  • Assist local associations when facing onerous legislation or regulatory action, such as, unreasonable growth limitation initiatives, excessive building requirements and environmental restrictions.

The following are standing committees of the Colorado Association of Home Builders. Please contact CAHB for a schedule of meeting times.

Board of Directors:
Consists of members representing all market areas of Colorado who participate in the focusing and governing of the association. Please contact your local HBA if you would like to represent them on the CAHB Board of Directors.

Political Funding Committee:
Oversees the collection and distribution of political contributions to support or oppose candidates for state elective offices. Voting members of this Committee are appointed by the CAHB Executive Committee.

Conference Committee:
Develops the theme and schedule of the annual Rocky Mountain Builder Conference to incorporate informational seminars, speakers, exhibitors and entertainment to exceed the expectations of all attendees.

Editorial Board:
Oversees the content published by the CAHB in the Colorado Builder Forum and elsewhere.

Executive Officers Council:
Is comprised of the executive officers from each local home builders association (HBA) who come together to share ideas, discuss common concerns, and learn how to better manage their respective associations.

Government Affairs Committee:
Is responsible for reviewing and recommending policy positions on the broad scope of legislation before the Colorado General Assembly that will impact the home building industry and private property rights. Voting members of this Committee are appointed by the CAHB Executive Committee.

 

 

GENERAL COMMITTEE BACKGROUND

Committees are the association's backbone and account for the success of association activities. They are the means to accomplish the year's goals and the building blocks for future years. Committee members are the association of tomorrow. Decisions of the Board of Directors are based on the research and recommendations of committees.

Committees must focus on their purpose and direct energies to accomplish tasks in the committee job description and the expectations given by the president. Requirements for services on a committee include:

  1. Desire to contribute to make a difference in the profession
  2. Willingness to attend committee and/or directors' meetings
  3. Familiarity with the bylaws and policies of the association
  4. Complete projects unfinished by prior year's committee
  5. Complete goal/assignments as outlined in the Strategic Plan and Annual Budget within the agreed upon time frame
  6. Carefully select committee members ensuring that there is a wide mix of participants; consider members based on various firm sizes, geographical location etc
  7. Make input to revision of committee job descriptions
