CAHB Quarterly Meetings Recap
The CAHB Political Funding Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and Board of Directors met in-person for the first time post-pandemic at the Catalyst Campus for Technology & Innovation in Colorado Springs. A big thank you to Andy Merritt and The O’Neil Group for providing meeting space at the stunning Catalyst Campus, which houses the historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot and is now a thriving environment for technology advancement. The evening prior to the meetings, members met at the Phantom Canyon Brewery in downtown Colorado Springs for a lively reception, where all in attendance were excited to re-connect. Thank you to Renee Zentz and the entire HBA of Colorado Springs for helping to make the CAHB reception a great success!
Following is a recap of each of the quarterly meetings:
The CAHB Board of Directors will be meeting again on October 22, 2021. More information, including location, to come. To see pictures from the CAHB July reception and meetings please visit the CAHB Facebook page here.
Member Benefit Spotlight
The CAHB Member Rebate Program is a free member benefit where the country’s leading manufactures pay rebates as a way of thanking our members for loyalty to their products. You may already be using many of these products so why not receive a rebate for something you are already doing? It is easy to register and can be done by filling out a short form found here. Claims are awarded quarterly, and there is still time to register to receive your second quarter rebate! The deadline to submit a claim for Q2 2021 is August 27, 2021.

Local Association Visits
As the CAHB Field Representative, I have begun my travels around the state to visit our local associations. I had the pleasure of visiting the Summit County Builders Association last month and have scheduled upcoming visits with the Grand County Builders Association, HBA of Northern Colorado, Pueblo Home Builders Association, HBA of Colorado Springs and HBA of Western Colorado. I will be visiting the HBA of Southwest Colorado and Metro Denver as well.
I am always looking for upcoming HBA events and want to hear from you. Please let me know if there is something coming up in your community! I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 307.751.5906.
NAHB Housing Update
The NAHB has recently reported that housing starts increased nationwide last month, but despite the increase in housing production, there has been a drop in permits for both single family and multifamily. Combined starts are 20%--40% higher across the nation, while permits have decreased by 2.6% for multifamily and 6.3% for single family. “The recent weakening of single-family and multifamily permits is due to higher material costs, which have pushed new home processes higher since the end of last year,” said NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz. Thanks to NAHB’s ongoing efforts and pressure to address the issue, the White House recently held a supply chain summit to address material prices and production bottlenecks. To read the entire article about the summit, please click here.
